Artist Bio - Negin Maddock

I am an illustrator and printmaker based in Tamarama Beach, Sydney. At university I studied mechanical engineering, and later a PhD in biomedical engineering. After university, I spent a decade working mainly in the academic sector. I made a complete career change after having my second child and decided to follow my passion for illustration and printmaking. 

My work celebrates the unique beauty and diversity of Australian native flora and fauna. Native birds are a particular favorite of mine. My inspiration comes from my desire to understand more about our natural world. Being a scientist, I take a very technical approach to my art making, believing a deep understanding and knowledge of the subject matter are the key to a successful design.
